Mexico is a fantastic destination for a babymoon, offering a perfect blend of beach days, culture, and nature. The weather is always nice and the food is mostly pregnant proof therefore you can fully enjoy having the best babymoon in Mexico!
Although we took this trip during our babymoon, we’ve listed activities that are equally enjoyable with a baby. I did almost all things also when I was a kid.
Complete Guide to the Coast of Mexico with a baby
This guide provides an itinerary focused on Mexico’s stunning coastline, minimizing travel time and making it ideal for families with babies or young children.
Day 1-2: Isla Holbox
Start your journey by traveling to Chiquila and taking a 20-minute ferry ride to Isla Holbox. This serene island is perfect for unwinding with its laid-back atmosphere and pristine beaches. Spend your days relaxing at Playa Punta Cocos, where you can enjoy the shallow waters and breathtaking sunsets. Take a stroll through the colorful streets and embark on a street art tour to admire the vibrant murals that adorn the town. Don’t miss out on exploring local restaurants and enjoying fresh seafood.
Tip: check the ferry times upfront. We arrived late in the evening and we had to stay in Chiquila the first night.
Day 3-5: Valladolid

Next, head to the charming town of Valladolid. Take a boat tour at Rio Lagartos, where you can spot a variety of birds, including flamingos, in their natural habitat. We even saw a couple of crocodiles!

A visit to the majestic Chichen Itza is a must; this UNESCO World Heritage site offers a fascinating glimpse into Mayan history. After exploring the ruins, cool off with a swim in one of the nearby cenotes, natural sinkholes with crystal-clear waters.
Day 6-7: Bacalar, seven colours of blue

Continue your adventure in Bacalar, a charming hippie town known for its stunning Lagoon of Seven Colors. Spend your time at Las Cocalitos, a beautiful spot perfect for swimming and relaxing. Enjoy a sailing trip on the lagoon, or for a more active experience, take a kayak tour.

Don’t forget to swim in Los Rapidos, where you can float along with the gentle current and enjoy the unique stromatolites, ancient living fossils.

Day 8-10: Tulum
Finish your trip in Tulum, a place that seamlessly combines natural beauty and rich history. Start your mornings with delicious smoothie bowls at Raw Love Cafe, and take time to admire the art installations at the entrance. Visit the ancient ruins of the Coba Temple and make sure to climb it at sunset for a breathtaking view over the jungle. Explore the Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve, a UNESCO World Heritage site, teeming with wildlife and stunning landscapes. Spend your afternoons relaxing on Tulum’s beautiful beaches before heading back home, refreshed and inspired.
To babymoon or not to babymoon in Mexico?
Deciding to go on a babymoon can be challenging because you never know how you’ll feel during each stage of pregnancy. However, it’s definitely worth taking the risk. After all, if you’re not feeling great, what better way to improve than by being in a beautiful destination? We took our babymoon when I was 16 weeks pregnant. Despite still feeling quite sick and already experiencing back problems, Mexico proved to be the perfect destination. It offered just the right amount of relaxation on its stunning beaches, and I found a variety of cuisines to enjoy (that I was actually allowed to eat).
A babymoon in Mexico is a fantastic way to create special memories before the kids arrive. This itinerary strikes the perfect balance between relaxation and adventure, making it also ideal for families with young children. Each location offers unique experiences that cater to all ages, ensuring a memorable trip for everyone. Femke even did this trip when she was a kid with her family and because it was so memorable, she did it again with her family.
